In another indicator of how sought-after the real estate near Amazon’s HQ2 has become, even an NBA player with no ties to Greater Washington is an investor in the Crystal City market.

Jeff Teague, a point guard for the Atlanta Hawks, bought a 935-square-foot apartment at 1200 Crystal Drive in Crystal City just two months after Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ: AMZN) said it would build its second headquarters in the neighborhood, according to Arlington property records the Washington Business Journal recently dug up.

Teague, who was playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves at the time, closed on the apartment in January 2019, paying $450,000. That was about $85,000 more than the median sale price for condos and apartments in Arlington County.
